Master no longer applies – InDesignSecrets – InDesignSecrets
Hi everyone.
I’m a newcommer in the InDesign world (and I am French, so please forvige my English). I’m working on a book about mushrooms I intend to publish in self-edition, presenting many different species. I’ve been watching a large amount of tutorials about InDesign in order to avoid making to many mistakes. I started by creating master pages : on the left page, information about the mushroom, on the right page, photos to see how it looks like. The left page master has a lot of text frames wit generic text which are supposed to be edited in each particular page to match the presented mushroom.
I heard that in order to edit text frames, one can Crtl Shift Click on it : each property which is modified is now independant from the master, but each proporty that remain the same is still dependant from the master. It means that if I only change the words on each page, every other change on the master page (location, color, size, etc.) is supposed to apply to all the corresponding pages. It worked until today and I can explain why it doesn’t work anymore, since I didn’t change any preference and didn’t modify the master either. By the way, some pictures and text frames also slightly moved on the pages (while remaining at the same place on the master)…
I’m completely lost… Would anyone happen to know how to solve the problem ? I would be so grateful, because it’s ruining days and days of hard work…
If needed, here is the book before the problem occured :
And here is a link to download the InDesign file (with the problem…) :
